The Enso is said to be the quintessential minimalist expression. In Zen it is said to be the pure expression of mind in the moment of its creation. Sometimes I have heard from people: "But it only took you ten seconds to make this!" and the reply to that is: all my life and 10 seconds!
Although there will be ensos for sale from time to time, being commissioned by someone or some group in particular to create one allows me to have an intention in mind when preparing to and then painting it.
